So weddings aren’t the only thing I do and it was a blast working with Amelia, who reached out for photos of this event as family and friends, far and wide came together to celebrate her grandpa John and his 90th birthday. 

As the extended family slowly trickled in, it was a joy to capture those races from the young ones to hug a favorite auntie, grandma, or someone special.  Smiles and laughs were in abundance on this day as the family caught up on all the exciting news of life and expectations of soon-to-be new additions to the family. With so many people in attendance, name tags were handed out and family notes written on them so people could know who’s who and with whom as well.

The family portraits were fun, especially the one of the birthday boy John, and all the great-grandkids together! Soon the cake came out and John expressed his love for all those present and those who couldn’t, saying to all that family, kindness, and hard work are what made his heart so full and appreciative of everyone. 

Congrats on 90 trips around the sun John.

Lake Geneva stands out in Wisconsin for its historic mansions, magnificent harbor, and outstanding tourism industry. Nestled in this vibrant community stands St.Benedict Catholic Church, where Gina and Karl tied the knot. 

As friends, family, and loved ones witnessed the couple share vows and commitments to each other, the sunlight filtered through the stained-glass windows, embracing them with its warm light as if affirming their union. A blessing, a candle lighting, a confirmation of the union, a kiss, and off the couple went on to the start of their new journey together. They started it in style, with nothing less than a send off in a stunning Rolls Royce!

The festivities continued on to the Abbey Resort, which set a lovely backdrop with the lake and harbor in the distance.  These views provided a great photo op for the Gina and Karl to pose for their couples photos. Cocktail hour was buzzing with live music as the guests mingled and congradulated the newly weds. 

 Once cocktail hour was over the party moved to the Porto Ballroom. The bridal party danced and jived into their grand entrance, followed by the couple, sharing their beautiful first dance as husband and wife. Dinner soon followed and once guests one and all were well fed the party started. The live band played hit after hit as the guests showed off their moves, smiled and danced with the newly weds. The positive energy for the couple was electric as they danced the night away!

In the heart of Iowa, amidst a vibrant sunset, I found myself capturing a cultural celebration unlike any other: a Nepalese wedding reception. As a photographer passionate about capturing diverse traditions, this event delivered on joy, family customs, and cultural celebrations. 

The venue was the picturesque Rolling Meadows Event Center, transformed by colorful decorations and vibrant fabrics that echoed the rich heritage of Nepal. As guests arrived, I marveled at the intricate saris and sherwanis adorned with intricate embroidery and dazzling jewels. Each outfit seemed to tell a story of tradition and elegance.

As the sun began its descent, casting a warm glow over the celebration, the atmosphere buzzed with festive music and laughter. Traditional Nepali tunes blended with local melodies, creating a soundtrack that energized the dance floor. Guests of all ages joined in, moving gracefully in their ornate attire, their movements a testament to the joyous occasion.

Amidst the revelry, I focused on capturing candid moments—the bride’s radiant smile as she danced with her spouse, the tender moments between family members, and the laughter shared among friends. Each click of my camera captured not just poses, but emotions and connections that transcended cultural boundaries. As the evening progressed, I stole a moment to capture the newlyweds against the backdrop of the Iowa sunset. The sky painted in hues of orange and pink provided a stunning canvas, symbolizing the union of two cultures in a single frame.

As I finished my work the buzz of energy was still strong with the crowd and I counted myself fortunate to witness this amazing display of color, tradition, and emotions. I can’t wait for my next one!
